Officers appeal for witnesses to Dartford collision

Officers investigating a collision in Dartford after a vehicle failed to stop for police are appealing for witnesses.

The incident happened in Heath Lane at 9.25pm on 11 November 2018 after a black BMW came to the attention of officers who requested it to stop. The car failed to do so and officers followed the vehicle for a short time before it was involved in a collision with two parked vehicles. The driver, a man aged 25, and the passenger, a woman aged 20, both sustained injuries described as minor.

The driver was taken to a local hospital while the passenger was taken to a London hospital for treatment where both currently remain.

Officers believe the vehicle was reported as stolen. Following the incident the man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and burglary while the woman was arrested on suspicion of theft, burglary and possession with intent to supply.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision or any motorists who may have dash cam footage or CCTV footage of the incident.

SOUTHEASTERN TRAINS

Autumn can be a very challenging time for the railway, with falling leaves mixing with rain and turning into slippery mulch on the track, causing our trains to take longer to brake and accelerate. However, we are pleased to announce that our first 'Awesome for Autumn' week, last week, delivered a much improved autumn weekday performance.

Last week's performance (29th October - 2nd November): 

• Right Time (arrivals within 59 secs of schedule) was 68.3%
• PPM (arrivals within 5 mins of schedule) was 90.6%

On our Metro services, we saw particular improvement, with 71.8% trains arriving within 59 secs of their scheduled time (Right Time) during peak hours. 

Last week also saw the first full week of our amended off-peak timetable in operation, which has meant a reduction in off-peak services at some stations, but helped us keep significantly more of our Metro services on time during the busy peak hours.

During these particularly challenging weeks of autumnal weather, we will be going all-out to make sure more of our passengers reach their destinations on time, and we hope to see performance continue to improve over the rest of Autumn. 

We're not complacent - there's more work to do

We're not complacent about the continuing challenges to ensure that our passengers arrive to their destinations on time this Autumn and we will continue to work hard with Network Rail to minimise the disruption to the track from falling leaves and poor adhesion. 

This Autumn, Southeastern is working with Network Rail to clear more than 50 million leaves off the railway lines, to ensure more of our trains arrive on schedule to their destinations. You can find out more on what we're doing this Autumn by clicking here.
